Phenotype

A phenotype is how a given plant’s genetics actually express under specific conditions — two growers can run the same cultivar’s seeds and harvest visibly and chemically different flower. Growers “pheno-hunt” by growing many seeds and keeping the best expression to clone. For buyers, phenotype explains an everyday puzzle: why this vendor’s Gelato differs from that one’s, legitimately, with nobody lying. It is also why our vendor reviews weigh consistency across drops — a vendor whose named strains behave the same month to month is doing real selection work behind the menu.
