ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation
ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing-laboratory competence, and accreditation against it — by bodies like A2LA or ANAB — is the credential to look for on a COA. It does not make a lab infallible, but it means documented methods, calibrated instruments, and outside audits. The check takes two minutes: accredited labs display a certificate number you can verify in the accreditor’s public directory. A COA from an unaccredited lab, or one from a “lab” that shares an address with the vendor, gets treated on this site as marketing, not evidence.
